The weather was slightly capricious with a steady wind from the west and the odd threat of rain. The course was grateful for rain and sunshine with the greens now playing really well. Crispies were to be found all over the course fulfilling their role as coarse golfers (generally) with an average score of 31. Winner (surprisingly) with a score of 41 was the editor (challenged with some incredulity over his writing), followed by James Brice, John Parsons, Chris Pitman and Martin Hogan. The competition to buy the crisps was even more intense than last week with one 26 and a host of 25s (and less). In the enclosure were in-the-briars, chastened, contrary-rob-version, not-holing-out, broken-long-putter, nsew-any-direction, and not-up-to-his-usual-tricks. Crispies are reminded that putting in a handicap card, particularly if playing off a dubious number (professor?), is encouraged. The President has said that the away day on Fri 12 August has enough wishing to play and the book is closed but could everyone who has committed please give him #20 in cash next week please?
